It’s 5 O’clock Somewhere…

It’s 5 O’clock Somewhere is a constant “catch phrase” in college, so I put my own spin on it for you all, (personally I prefer my vision way more) “It’s Summertime Somewhere”!

My poor East Coasters,

My heart goes out to you all as you continue to get buried in inches and inches of snow! Don’t worry though it’s February so it’s almost time for February Break for all you high schoolers!

So whether you are naturally in Summer (aka my Californians) or going somewhere warm for vacation, Get Excited!

This winter is almost over and with summer comes Lilly Pulitzer Dresses, Vineyard Vines Bathing Suits, and J.Crew’s colorful shorts!

It’s time to take Life off of Hold!

Celebs do it.
Celebs do it.

It’s time to shut off the phone and take a breather guys. I don’t know about you, but sometimes my phone just overwhelms me and yet I can’t seem to put it down. Whether it’s time to go to bed or I am just board; I have realized that I have formed a habit of reaching for my phone. Whether I am currently addicted to an app or exchanging late night texts with my BFFS; it’s time to but a hold on my constant addiction to technology.

I never thought my constant interaction with technology was a problem until I noticed that my phone, apps, text messages, and emails were giving me A MAJOR HEADACHE but also Anexiety (yikes).I ended up paying more attention at opening  Snapchats than listening to conversations. I noticed then that my phone was wearing me down. I physically can’t be working 24/7 to cater to all my friends “social media needs”.

So the conclusion of this long rant blog(sorry) is that for now when I am board, tired, or need a breather I will reach for a book instead of my phone. I know, books are gross, but reading doesn’t hurt and actually ends up being way more relaxing than being stuck on level 70 of candy crush.

So join me! Take a break and grab a book!

Snow Snow Snow!

It’s that time of year, again (sigh). Snow is everywhere and plenty. I woke up this morning to find a glorious eight inches piled high across my yard. Yet when the snow starts your life stops. Being snowed in is both wonderful and horrifying at the same time. I am a big doer. I love doing things and going places; so when the snow hits and I am not allowed to leave my room (crying) I always stay prepared! Here are my 5 snow day (survival) activitiesImage

1) Go for a walk in the snow. Nothing will tire you out faster than a walk in the snow. Walking in the snow is like running in the sand. With the added friction you will burn double the calories in the same mileage (Go us)!

2) Go online shopping! After Christmas Deals are in their prime; so hit up the coupons and sit down and scourge the internet for deals. Who knows, you may end up with the boots you have always wanted, for 50% off (amen)!

3) Grab a book! I am always hesitant about reading, especially since I have to do so much reading during school. Yet grabbing a chick flick novel or a Twilight like romantic book (aw) will always pass the time along.

4) Rent a movie and grab a special someone (<3). Nothing passes time like a movie marathon. Yet if you bring a friend along you will feel less like a couch potato and more like a social butterfly.

5) Cook! I never have time to cook or try new recipes but with nowhere to go and nowhere to be (yikes), cooking seems like a great substitution. Search for some new recipes and bring out your inner Barefoot Contessa.

Stay Confident and Warm!
