Burgers & Romance

Not to be one of “those girls” but yesterday Matt & I reached our “5 year” of dating each other mark. Which is super weird because that means we meet when we were practically babies (yikes).

Anyways we decided to celebrate with burgers…because what is more romantic than that! So we went out to Max Burgers in downtown West Hartford & ate up! West Hartford is always one of my favorite places to go because it is surrounded by good shops & even better dessert places (Ben & Jerry’s!!).

So the question of course was….what to wear!

I wore a Navy & White Stripped (high-low) dress from Anthropologie & decked myself out in accessories

I took the strap off of my Rebecca Minkoff purse & used it as a clutch. I wore my Tiffany & Co. Charm bracelet & a Cape Cod bracelet as well. & we can’t forget…Kate Spade earnings, of course!

It was sooo nice having a little dinner out to celebrate the triumph that is 5 years with that little mr. I always love going out to dinner though because I can rarely & barely cook anyways.

Finally. After weeks of being “in summer”, it’s finally actually feeling like summer. The warm weather is breaking through & my pool is open & ready to go. So as the warm CT weather comes, everyone has to prepare as it gets hot hot hot (& mosquitoy).

In order to fully embrace the great outdoors (or my backyard) & stay cool & comfy  it’s important to wear lightweight clothing. 

Shirt: Sporting a Madewell Muscle Tee (the perfect thing for summer days!). Shoes: Of course, I wore my infamous Jack Rogers. Pants: A pair of cotton cropped Vineyard Vine pants.

 

 

 

okay so this is my go to summer shirt! With the summer heat coming, this shirt “goes with the flow”, yet is still able to give you a put together look.

Perfection. Everyone go out & enjoy that summer sun, whether you’re at the beach or the pool (& I tend to stick to the pool).

What’s to come? Look forward to a lot of posts on beach attires (yay)!

Mothers Day

my anthropologie addiction

so obsessed.
I love love love anthropology, it is by far my favorite store (ever). Anthropologie combines comfy clothing with a Girly Parisian look. While some people may think their clothes are a little liberal & expensive (*cough, cough* Matthew); I find these clothes idyllic.

Literally I wear my Anthropologie shirts everyday; they are so comfy, but are expertly tailored (basically you can’t look bad in Anthropologie).

Nothing is worse than a baggy see-through J.Crew shirt, or a shrunk (to a kids XS) Ralph Lauren Polo.

Anthropologieguarantees quality for their price & I am totally buying it (pun intended).

Fridays are for shopping anyways!
(Important Side-note): Anthropologie always smells amazing too! I don’t know how they do it, but it’s perfect!

Chasing Goals.

Thankful for these ladies.

If anyone watched the Oscars then you probably saw Matthew Mcconaughey’s thought-provoking speech. Not only is gorgeous but now it turns out he is deep & driven too (go figure). In his speech he said that everyone morning he does 3 things:
1) Look for someone to look up to.
2) Look forward to something
3) And finally to chase someone.

He then explained in long detail all three things, but the person he says he chases is the person he wants to be in 10 years. I thought that was a really motivational idea.  Everyday he starts his day wonders what actions & attitude to carry in order to become the person he is chasing.
I figured I would share my answers with you guys of these three statements:
1) I look up to my family, parents, and my sorority sisters (so darling).
2) I am looking forward to spring break & going home on Friday (ahhhh).
3) I am chasing my dream career & the person I want to be with this career (living in CT, being close to my family, & celebrating).

There really isn’t any better way to start off a week than with Matthew Mcconaughey (if you have time you must watch his speech)! I hope everyone is in pursuit of what they are chasing.

Advice Worth Taking

In the age of social media & a generation of girls constantly trying to out do each other; I believe it is so important to value your true friends! I am not saying cut all your other guppies out but living in an age of things going viral & instant txts, be careful out there! Be kind and genuine to everyone but save the dish and the extravagant stories for your inner circle; they will appreciate the story way more anyways!

Home Is Where Your <3 Is

Home is where your Heart is. I truly believe that statement. Below is a picture of my colonial home in CT. It was built in the 1700s and is my dream home. I would love nothing more than to get married live in this house and work in NYC. Yet I, of course, go to school in California. So I am in a constant internal struggle (poor me) whether I should settle down in CT or CA. Come on…California and NYC! How can I choose?

While (thank God) I have 2 more years before I graduate and have to choose my location; for now I get to blissfully enjoy the perks of both CA and CT. Yet one perk CT has is my most amazing, supportive, and super handsome BF! I thought I would introduce him to you guys. His name is Matthew and he is my favorite person because he ALWAYS can make me laugh.

Matt and I are in a Very Very Very Epic Long-Distant Relationship. Matt goes to college in upstate NY (basically Canada) and I go to college in San Diego (basically Mexico). Yet with all the logically reason it shouldn’t work, our relationship is going on 4 and a half years! So basically we are an old married couple living cross-country. Yet through technology (amen) we are able to connect, facetime, and chit-chat the nights away. 

Don’t let anyone tell you a relationship won’t work. Whether it’s a friendship or a romantic interest ( <3) there is no harm in trying. Purse what makes YOU Happy!

I officially leave to go back to college and San Diego in less than a week (yikes)  and it makes me realize that home is where your heart is. Home is laughter, love and things/people/(cats) that make you happy. And of course CT has Dunkin Donuts<3. I hope one day to have a  home  run on coffee, cupcakes, and Yankee Candles either in CT or CA. Yet until then I must banish myself to dorms, crammed rooms, and no closet space. I will miss my home and I will miss Matt but I love sharing the journey with you all! Thank you and I love you ALL!

Rain Rain…GO Away

If you are like me (or have ever lived in California) then rain isn’t always welcomed on the agenda. I do always love the occasionally rainy day; which ends up looking more like a  movie marathon with me wearing the attire of a hobo (but that’s another post to deal with). Today I am talking about the annoying day when you have plans (outside usually) and you wake up and realize it’s pouring. Like someone line up the animals two by two, and put them on Noah’s Arc kind of rain.

Rain Rain…Come Out and Play!

When this happens a girl has to do what she has to do. I never want to cancel plans so I throw on some wunderunder lululemon pants (over-priced), a wildfox sweater (shabby-chic), some comfy socks, and last but not least RAINBOOTS! I could literally have 100 pairs of rainboots. I love them so much (it’s kind of an obsession).

The best part about rainboots is…

1) You can literally buy them in any color (and not get judged if you go with a spunky color).

2) You can dress them down or up.

3) They make you look like the cutest girl a guy could ever wish for (guys love rainboots).

4) They are COMFY!

I love rainboots because they are both functional and C0MfY! That almost never happens for shoes and they look cute too! ❤
