So I have been MIA…because yesterday was my birthday & I had a crazy busy weekend!
I started off the weekend by going to New York to see a play…which is one of my favorite things to do. I went with my family + Matt.
It was a good time & we ate some really good food! We went to pie face for dessert & it was perfection. The store had great coffee & little single serving pies with cute faces (so nothings is better than that)!
The play was fun & interactive so I wore a dress from Anthropologie & some comfy shoes, since we walked all around Time Square.
Overall Matt went full on Prepster & I went Parisian + Pearls:
love this necklace…I wear it from chunky sweaters to dresses!
SOOO I hope all of you had an amazing weekend & I will post more this week about my birthday weekend/week, cause why not make it a week, your birthday only comes once a year!
& thank god Gemini season has begun! Let the summer birthdays begin!
So with all the thunderstorms blowing through CT, it has been a just chilling, musical movies, cooking kind of days.
It’s always 100% tempting to wear sweatpants and never leave the house, especially when it’s pouring like Noah’s Arc outside. Yet on rainy days (or weeks) it is important to be casual, but still cloth yourself with somedignity.
Summer nights, aren’t complete without mini golf. So casually my family plus Matthew, packed up and headed over to Wethersfield to play some mini golf & grab some dinner.
I (shockingly) didn’t win mini golf this round, which is unusual because I tend to be pretty good in the sport of mini golf. However the competition was close and the fashion was on key!
I wore: a casual beaded baseball tee from J.Crew, aquamarine track shorts from LuluLemon, and super comfy & broken in Jack Rogers.
The mini golf in New England is supreme & extremely entertaining as it’s a season sport on The East Coast. After harsh winters & rainy springs; a packed mini golf course is like a sign that summer is finally here (thank god)!
I typically love the pirate themed mini golf courses (it’s sad that I have a preference, I know). The pirate themed courses tend to be fun, cause they usually have really cute themed holes; yet this round we went to a safari themed park & it was pretty legit.
It was equipped with a variety of Africa animals as seen above; which made for some fun picture-taking (& trust me we did a ton of picture-taking). Including some hilarious preppy cameos.
#prepster
Overall mini golf was a success & will probably be a weekly tradition (I’m kind of secretly addicted)!
Kate Spade’s go to saying is often Live Colorfully. Her motto is always represented in her bold colorful designs (I love her purses & earrings especially). California embraces the live colorfully experience every Spring when the Carlsbad Flower Fields bloom!
The Flower Fields are a California destination & are only in bloom for a total of 6 weeks! It’s a super cheap but fun nature date (costing about $12). I took my family here last Thursday & got some great pictures (just look below)!
Towards the end of the season the flowers are all hand-picked and made into bouquets which were so pretty :)!
I took Kate Spade’s motto and applied it to my outfit as I wore a J.Crew jeweled jersey shirt along with Vineyard Vine cropped bright blue pants (perfect for spring)!
My beautiful sisters joined me on this trip! Nothing is better than some R&R and sister time! Especially frolicking in flower fields, nothing is more sisterly than that (lol)!
I hope everyone is having an amazing Easter Break, & preparing to head back to school for some pre-finals craziness! Make sure to embrace the break & the relaxation now, because the countdown till the last day of class is about 3 weeks (which is totally crazy)!
We will power through this together (with some online shopping of course)!
California has officially re-opened all of their beaches; which results in lifeguards on jet-skies, families throwing celebrations in make-shift tents, & thousands of tanners reading the most popular book, that is soon to become a movie (I believe currently the book of choice is: The Fault in Our Stars).
Nothing is more exciting than bathing suit season in California. As you may guess there are millions of bathing suit shops throughout the city. Yet, while it looks like perfection outside, the beach always tends to be freezingby 3pm. So to avoid ruining your beach tan; when the cold front comes in at 3pm (on the dot), I always pack a few casual beach essentials:
I was pulling into the driveway the other day & stopped to get the mail. I must have had good karma because, I was lucky enough to pull a Vineyard Vines Catalogue out of the mail box.
So my day was made; I quickly purged through the catalogue & saw soooooo many desired pieces. I haven’t bought anything yet, but I did help my sister pick out a professional yet youthful dress for her college interviews!
This dress 100% reminds me of something one of the fashion forward women on Mad Men (love that show) would wear. Classic, Elegant & Fun. I attached the link so you guys can purchase & view the dress we ordered here: Stylish Dress.
I quickly feel in love with 110% of the clothing items (which is a classic issue I struggle with). I am a huge fan of the light blue VV hate for women; anyone with brown hair needs to order it ASAP! Nothing is prettier than babe blue and brown hair (one of my personal fave combinations).
You can buy this hat at any VV store & it comes in a variety of fun summer colors. It’s really important to protect your face from the sun (especially while at the beach), so I suggest everyone to go out & buy one of these babies.
Finally I died over these shorts:
How cute are those. It would be perfect for summer days, paired with a relaxed shirt & a pair of Rainbow sandals.
So overall the VV Spring catalogue made me beg for summer’s arrival. Luckily it’s almost April so the warm weather will be here to stay soon!
PS: I suggest everyone go & look at the VV website! They are on top of their Instagram game! A whole section of their website features pictures on Instagram, that their loyal customers posted of them sporting their personally owned VV attire. Warning: The average VV customer is typically very stylish & their instagrams will literally make you want to buy even more. Also they have some of the cutest couples wearing matching VV gear (jealous).
It’s 5 O’clock Somewhere is a constant “catch phrase” in college, so I put my own spin on it for you all, (personally I prefer my vision waymore) “It’s Summertime Somewhere”!
My poor East Coasters,
My heart goes out to you all as you continue to get buried in inches and inches of snow! Don’t worry though it’s February so it’s almost time for February Break for all you high schoolers!
So whether you are naturally in Summer (aka my Californians) or going somewhere warm for vacation, Get Excited!
This winter is almost over and with summer comes Lilly Pulitzer Dresses, Vineyard Vines Bathing Suits, and J.Crew’s colorful shorts!
I can’t wait for Summer 2014! It will be here sooner than you think!
It’s about that time of year again…college students are heading back to campus. Going back after a relaxing break with a positive attitude towards the New Year (yay 2014) is always excited; yet with school comes the 6:50 am walks across campus to that 7:15 morning class. Nothing is more dreadful than a rushed walk to class with textbooks that feel like 100 pounds.
So for the college women out there I have done my research (aka online shopping) and have found the most fashion-forward book bags out there. I can not stress how important it is to have the perfect book bag as you will literally be living out of this bag (everyday). If your college is like mine then getting to your campus isn’t just a quick stroll but more like climbing a mountain with more stairs than The Effie Tower. The good news is since we all just received cash, gift cards and checks for christmas, now is the perfect time to splurge and get one (or all) of these fashion bags.
